One
of the most successful and long lasting games of all time is Dominoes.
It was probably started in the 12th century. Dominoes are thought to have
been a Chinese invention that was copied in Europe around 1800.
The original Chinese game used the 21 different results of throwing two
dice.
One half shows the results from the first dice and the other half from
the second.
It is not known when the blank tiles were added.
American Eskimos also play a game quite like Dominoes
that is so old the origins are not known.
Domino tiles can be used to play many different but similar games and
many
different games rules are available on the internet and in published books.
Well known games include Five up, Muggins and Forty two.
The inventor of this new game Domiphun, Colin Simonds, was playing
three dimensional noughts and crosses (Tic Tac Toe) with his nine year
old
daughter while staying with his wife's parents. They both thought it was
an
excellent game and in fact far better than the original version in two
dimensions. He wondered what other games could be improved in this way.
The Domiphun game is now in production
It comes as a boxed set for family use (43070)
or in larger multiple sets for schools.
